Performing tricks is a key part of vaping culture. Everyone from beginners to advanced vapers has at some point attempted to master a trick or two. In this article, we’ll cover some basic tips and tricks on how to blow perfect circles and perform eight other amazing vape tricks!
Basics of Blowing O’s
It’s an all-time classic, but even after all this time, it still hasn’t stopped entertaining vapers and random observers. Blowing circles can be tricky to learn at first, but becomes a lot easier to perfect as you go along. There are two ways of blowing circles; with, and without inhaling your vapour first. It really is up to you.
Blowing O’s without inhaling (Beginner difficulty)
This is the easiest way to blow circles, and can be done in 4 easy steps.
- Half inhale – You’ll need enough vapour to perform the trick, but only enough to fill your mouth. This can differ from person to person.
- Push your tongue to the back of your mouth. You’ll want it out of the way.
- Form your lips into an O-shape. The vapour will now be lingering on the edge of your lips
- Push out small, controlled amounts of air using your throat, slightly assisting it with your tongue or creating a “controlled cough”. Do this a few times, and you’ll become familiar with the feeling that best supports shooting the O’s – either they’re thick and travelling slow, or a little smaller but travelling far.
*You can create double and triple O’s at the same time by splitting the O-shape of your lips with your finger(s)!
*To really crank it up, you can shoot multiple O’s quickly after one another by tapping under your jaw as you exhale.
Blowing O’s after inhaling (Intermediate Difficulty)
The trick starts by exhaling the first bit of vapour first, allowing a bit of air to escape. When you see your vapour is at its thickest, you’re good to go.
- Stop exhaling and push your tongue to the back of your threat.
- Form your lips into a circular shape.
- Let out small, controlled thrusts of air to push the vapour through your lips. Using small “controlled” coughs can also work for this.
*This way you can blow a few of them right after another
Be mindful not to continually exhale while attempting to blow O’s. You’ll quickly learn that anything from excess vapour to the slightest breeze in the room can upset the circle.
8 Other Vape Tricks
We’ve listed 10 of the easiest and most impressive vape tricks you can learn in a short amount of time, whether it be to entertain yourself or to impress your friends!
Let’s get right into it.
- Ghost Inhale
This trick is done by letting vapour escape your mouth in the shape of a mushroom cloud (or ghost) and then sucking it back in.
It’s quite a looker and is even easier than blowing an O-ring!
- Take a mouthful-drag of vapour, but don’t inhale.
- Close your mouth and blow up your cheeks – similar to how it will look if you’re blowing up a balloon.
- Open your mouth while keeping your lips in an O-shape and push out the vapour using your tongue.
- When the vapour has formed a ghost-like shape, quickly inhale.
*With experience, you can push the vapour bubble even larger and even further before inhaling!
- French Inhale / Upside-Down Waterfall
It is recommended that you master the ghost inhale before attempting this trick, as it follows almost the exact same steps.
But, instead of sucking the vapour cloud back in, you’re going to slowly inhale it through your nose while simultaneously pushing the vapour cloud out with your mouth.
- Take a mouthful-drag of vapour, but don’t inhale.
- Open your mouth to push (not exhale) vapour outwards, while simultaneously inhaling the vapour through your nose.
*The stronger the force behind the vapour is pushed outward, the harder you’ll have to inhale to create the same effect. Mastering this can look wildly impressive and out of the ordinary!
- Bane Inhale
The Bane inhale follows up on the French inhale and is a little trickier to master.
Instead of creating a simple pathway for the vapour to flow upwards between your mouth and your nose, you’ll separate the airflow with your teeth – creating an imitation of a Bane mask.
- Take a hit of your vape, but don’t inhale.
- Place your teeth on your bottom lip – not too hard, not too lightly. You’ll learn just the right tension with practice. The idea here is that the vapour will travel between the spaces of your teeth to create multiple vapour streams.
- Simultaneously, inhale through your nose. You’ll need to inhale a little harder than with the French inhale.
- The Dragon/Dragon’s Breath
This trick involves exhaling through both your nose and divided sections of your lips, creating the classic appearance of a dragon’s breath. Take a look here,
- Take a hit of your vape and inhale fully.
- Place your teeth on either your top or bottom lip in the middle, separating the passage through which vapour can escape through your mouth.
- Exhale through your mouth and nose simultaneously – it’s that easy!
- Bull Ring
The Bull Ring is super easy once you’ve mastered blowing O’s. Basically, you’ll blow a steady O that’s not travelling too fast, and inhale the top portion of it through your nose, creating the appearance of a bull ring.
- Blow a strong O that doesn’t travel fast. The slower, the better.
- Approach the O without moving too fast.
- Inhale the top-middle section of the O through your nose while staying close to the O.
*The size & thickness of your O will determine how long this trick will last!
- Pushing O’s/Vape Bending
The trick that opens up a door to a whole new level of vape tricks. You can use your hands to direct and shape your O’s!
Pushing O’s
- Blow a fast-moving O (The faster it moves, the better you’ll be able to control it).
- Push with the opposite hand you’re vaping with for optimal control.
- O’s are better pushed with closed fingers, and a flat palm.
- Keep your palm parallel with the O and focus on using your hand’s surface area.
- Use a rolling start with your hand as you blow the O – this will give you maximum power when pushing the O in a direction.

Advanced Vape Tricks
These tricks require a little more practice and combine one or more of the basic tricks listed above. So if you’re new to vaping, these tricks may be a little difficult to perform.
- The Jellyfish
A Jellyfish basically consists of a strong, fast moving circle that’s filled up with a vapour cloud as it’s travelling through the air. The trail it leaves behind looks almost identical to a jellyfish in water!
The main thing you need to do to perform this trick is blowing a good, strong O and making it move fast enough using the vape bending technique.
After blowing your perfect O, take a second mouth hit of your vape and while standing slightly close to your O, push the vapour into the O in a controlled manner, using your jaw.
Be careful not to approach the O too fast or to jolt away after completing the Jelly to avoid breaking the shape. You can see a visual representation of what a jellyfish looks like here.
- Atomic Bomb
The atomic bomb is quite similar to the jellyfish, but with a slight difference. It’s arguably easier to master and won’t require as much precision.
Start by blowing an O-ring and coming close enough to it so that you can push a vapour cloud through the centre of it, just before inhaling the bunch.
What you’ll get is a similar-shaped mushroom cloud as it appears with an atomic bomb – check it out here.
- Bow tie
You’ll need to master blowing O’s before attempting to create a bow tie. The easy way to do this is to inhale portions of two separate circles simultaneously.
- First, blow a couple of O’s without making them move too quickly. Make sure the O’s are close to each other.
- As the O’s are hovering close to you, you’ll need to position yourself to suck in portions of them, creating a bow tie for a short duration. (Your mouth will be at the centre).
You can have a look at the more advanced way of performing a bow tie here.
