So, what exactly would count as an accessory?
Well basically an accessory as everyone probably already knows, is something that is added to or used in conjunction with something else. Now in terms of this article, where we will be focusing on Bongs and Dab-rigs when we refer to accessories, it will include the following:
All of which are of course available on our website and any Vaperite store nationwide.
Bowls
Let’s talk about bowls. Bowls, as an accessory to a bong or a dab-rig, refer to the actual bowl used to place your token bud for the day in. Just as unique as the bud you choose is the bowl you use. For most, a different bowl delivers a different experience. This is definitely true if you look at the designs, quality, size, and material that goes into the world of bowls. Assuring our customers that when you buy your bowl from us you buy only the best in glassware bowls.
First up, as the most impactful idea behind bowls as an accessory, is the size of the bowl, usually the starting point for most. Bowls come in either small, medium, or large and as such define how you choose to accessorise.
Next comes the fitting size ranging from a diameter of 14.5mm to 18.8mm size definitely matters. Going as large as 34mm it is a given that the bigger the bowl the bigger the high. Having the freedom to choose how big or small you want the bowl to be, you’ll definitely find one to fit not just your bong but also your bud.
The main idea behind the accessorising of your bong or dab rig is to create a unique and different look and feel. Being able to choose either a bowl with or without a handle adds even more of a personal touch, literally.
Design features such as some bowls has built-in glass screens which stop any unwanted ash or herb crumbs. Such could fall through into either your bong or rig. Therefore, choosing the right bowl a be a great personal venture. Personal is an understatement when it comes to accessories as this is just the beginning.
Bangers
With a larger focus on dab-rigs, one cannot forget about which banger you choose for your rig. Now a banger refers to the ‘dish’ you use to vaporise your cannabis or concentrate in when using a bong or a dab rig. Sounding simple enough there are a few important things to remember when choosing your banger.
The first is if your banger comes with or is meant to be used with a cap or not. Both options have equal high points, some bangers are have a cap and some do not. As all the bangers we stock are made of only the best quality materials, they are designed to withstand the intense heat needed to effectively vaporise your buds or concentrates.
Our bangers deliver an intense and flavourful, clean vaping or dabbing experience. But how exactly do I choose which banger to buy? Well at Vaperite we stock both thermal bangers and both male and female bangers. Let’s break that down:
Thermal Bangers: Sometimes also referred to as a Thermal nail is a type of banger that is perfect to offer better performance due to the high thermal resistance it has. They have a double-walled interior to give optimal heat retention for low-temp dabbing. This giving the user a more continuous experience is indeed ideal for high-potency users.
Female Bangers: A female banger simply refers to the shape of the actual banger. More specifically the build of the banger base. If your device has a smaller opening that tapers at the end, then you will need to place all cannabis accessories over it and will be female.
Male Bangers: The inverse is true for male bangers. If your device has a wider opening and you need to insert your cannabis accessories. You will need a male banger and your other accessories will then be male.
Once again size also matters here. With bangers of both genders being built in either 10mm, 14mm, or 18mm, choosing the correct one for your bong or rig is very important. With a 10mm is commonly known as micro or nano-sized, the average banger and bong/dab-rig joint are 14mm, and the larger but also commonly found is an 18mm joint which offers better airflow than the smaller sizes.
Where the choice of banger becomes a bit more interesting is the material it is made from. Thermal Bangers/Nails are most often made of Quartz which allows for maximum flavour retention and a heat-up time of roughly 10 seconds. When using a quartz banger or nail it is best to use a carb cap (more on that in the next section) as well.
Another preferred material for your banger is titanium. But, when choosing titanium, keep in mind that it is better to have either 2nd or 3rd grade (with 2nd grade as the better option). This will impact the heating rate for most dab-rigs and they produce little to no harmful by-products. In addition, titanium is basically indestructible which is why it might be best over quartz and ceramic. Cheaply made titanium bangers/nails will, after some time of using, start creating a thin veil of titanium oxide, which will add a very metallic taste to your dab. This is why at Vaperite we offer our customers only the best 2nd-grade titanium nails.
Finally, the last point to consider is the shape of your banger/nail. With dabbing especially gaining such popularity in a quick time frame, the design of bangers has also developed just as fast.
90° Versus 45° Angles: The angle of your banger will depend heavily on the angle of your dab rig’s joint. If your rig faces directly up then you’ll need a 90° degree angled banger/nail. For an ideal fit, your rig has to be a diagonal shape with a 45° degree angle on the banger.
Flat-Top Versus Angled: The shape of the top of your banger/nail must match the shape of the carb cap you intend to use. It’s important to choose the best fit.
Carb Caps
Considered to be the icing on the cake of dabbing, a carb cap is like the lid of a pot. Used with your banger/nail it encases the heat inside your banger, modifies airflow, and, at lower temperatures, improves convection. When choosing a cap, for a more refined experience opt to get yourself a picking tool as well. Cannabis consumers use this tool to pick up and place a certain amount of concentrate into your cap and come in a variety of shapes and sizes.
Carb caps are built using various heat-resistant materials with the most popular and effective being quartz, glass, and titanium. They have a variety of different styles. As a result, you can match your own style of dabbing with the cap you choose. Let’s start with the shape of your cap. Caps come in different shapes, from round, standard flat, and in a lid design.
The shape of your banger will determine the shape you choose. Most standard caps are compatible with a 25mm ‘flat-top’ bucket headbanger. If you prefer the bigger 30mm cap or if your banger is a novelty in either its shape or size it is best to visit us in store for our expert advice on which cap suits you.
Specifically talking about designs, caps are famous for their variety of designs. From animated character designs to animals and other eye-catching images, to stock-standard visual patterns. Some stunning designs include a spiral glass carb cap that comes in a range of colours. I.e. a top-hat or hatter shape, and an intriguing bulb design.
Picking Tools
If you’re unfamiliar with what exactly a picking tool is or what its purpose is then look no further for the answer. A picking tool is used in dabbing to pick up concentrate, such as wax, shatter or BHO, and then placing it on the banger head.
These nifty tools include a variety of materials, for example, titanium, stainless steel, glass, quartz, and ceramic. Each has both pros and cons, for example, a glass picking tool might complement your rig but it is susceptible to breaking easily and shattering from having almost no heat retention. Titanium for example should always be lightweight and preferably 2nd-grade medical titanium.
These tools come scoop-shaped, flat, or blade shaped (otherwise known as dagger pickers), with each having a unique helping hand in your overall dabbing experience.
Bong Diffusers & Adapters
Okay, hold on, what is a diffuser? One of the sought after cannabis accessories.
Basically, a diffuser, with regards to bongs, is a designed downstem that affects the overall experience. For example the internal SG and Slit diffusers. Most enthusiasts who want to stay away from any and all potential coughs normally use diffusers.
These diffusers resemble a test tube that is sealed on one end and on the other has a number of small openings. These openings (or slits) are specifically placed and designed to break up the amount of smoke in your bong into tiny bubbles that increase the cooling factor of the smoke. This in turn eases the hit on the inhaler’s throat.
A diffuser forces the smoke to pass through cool water. It reduces the heat but also lowers the potential for any ash or harsh resins to inhale. This is commonly known as a pre-cooler.Â
Alternatively using an activated charcoal diffuser has many benefits to the user. For example, better-tasting smoke, a cleaner, and less smelly bong, and a massive decrease in resin buildup. Activated charcoal is essential if you’re after the least amount of possible toxins entering your body either via the smoke or the resin that builds up in your bowl over time.
Diffusers are made from borosilicate glass and come in a wide range of sizes and shapes. Especially the openings, or slits, which can take on either a normal or single hole, multiple holes, shower cap, circ, and inline/stemline designs.
These adapters are also available as a double bowl accessory. Also, as the identifier suggests, for a user who enjoys larger doses, they must attach to it the diffuser with two bowls. For a single bong, these double bowl adapters are perfect.
